The Hidden Temperature Blanket

This blanket started because I just wasn’t feeling the color changes of a normal temperature blanket. I had a car accident in 2017 and wanted to do a temperature blanket from that date on. I felt like it would be good for my mental healing. After trying many patterns and color combinations, I got frustrated because nothing seemed to fit the reason I was making the blanket. Almost a year later, it came to me. I’d use one color but set the ranges in different stitches! In my mind, it works for me since no one could really see what I was going through since it happened and changing the stitches instead of color was a subtle way to symbolize that.  There’s not much of a pattern for this blanket. Gauge, yarn weight/type, and hook size don’t matter at all.

This is how I did my temperature ranges (I’m in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania…). I’m using Premier Alpaca Dance in the Bonsai color. My hook is a size H (5.00mm) and I started with 400 stitches to fit my queen bed with substantial drape. Multiples of 2 plus enough for your turning chain unless you’re using a foundation stitch!

You can change the temperature ranges to whatever works best for your location. Be creative!
